Prayer request for a fellow Christian worker

On behalf of the outreach team in Khagaria, Pastor Denny Moses has sent a request seeking prayer for a fellow Christian worker with whom they have worked for some years. He wrote…

“Dear brothers and sisters in Christ
Please kindly uphold Missionary Pastor Christopher (in Begusarai, Bihar) who is an independent servant of God, serving for 20 years. For the last 3 years he has been facing problems from anti-Christian people (BJP, RSS, BAJARADAL & Hindu high caste people). He is alone and depending on God alone.
Kindly uphold him in your valuable prayers….”

“Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ, I thank God for His marvellous works in my life. Last 22nd March at 4:45pm (IST) God blessed me with baby boy. God helped my wife to deliver in normal way. Now she is in her home town Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. I’m in Bihar. Please pray for me continually.Thank You”

As is the custom in India, Briscy would have returned to her home to be with her Mother just before the birth of their son, and will remain there for several months before returning to Bihar to be with Denny Moses. Briscy’s home is in Tuticorin, at the far south of India, literally at the other end of the country from Bihar. Please pray for Denny Moses, Briscy and their son, asking that they will be together as a famil

INDIA – BIHAR – Items for prayer

Pastor Denny Moses has written as follows on behalf of the ACCI’s outreach team in Khagaria, Bihar, asking for prayer for folk connected with their ministry and school…

“Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ.
We all are doing good in our ministry. We are thankful to you for all the prayer support towards the Bihar Outreach team. Please continually pray for us.

image001In the picture Sister Rooth Kalavathy from Chennai has been working in our Bihar St. Xavier’s High School since 2008 onwards. She converted from Hindu background (Brahmin family) so their family members left her because she accepted Jesus as Saviour.

She met an accident years ago and due to that she had a plate in her right leg. Then also she worked as a missionary in our team. Now she has to go for treatment to her right leg – as you see in picture she is in a critical condition

Please pray for healing. May God may bring back her to Bihar to continue in school ministry. She has undergone treatment in Bihar Homeopathic but is not getting cured so she went Chennai hospital for further treatment.

Please pray for her medical expenses – may God may supply all their needs. She has one sister (Rebekah) who also left home because she accepted Jesus – both are not married yet.”

Pastor Denny Moses wrote late in July asking for prayer for one of the Khagaria church members – Brother Siva, whose Mother has worked for St Xavier’s School for 15 year- who had fallen ill. Medical tests were all normal, but sadly he died several days later.
Brother Denny Moses again asks us to pray for his family as follows…

image003“The picture at right is of Bro. Siva who passed on 01-08-2015 due to illness. The picture is the last as he attended my (Denny Moses) marriage reception on 20-06-2015 [Bro Siva at left of picture]

I have no words to express and explain about Siva because he was such a good talented young man in our youth team. Whenever the Prayer Camp and Annual Convention was held he was the key singer and volunteer leader to arrange all things.

Please continually pray for their family. This is the 3rd death in their family within 8 months.

The village people and relatives are saying that “You are worshipping Jesus so our (Hindu) god is punishing your family, so stop following Jesus. If you continue following Jesus again one more death will occur in your family.”

Please pray for Siva’s family, that they may know the peace and presence of God, and that they may stand firm in their Christian faith and may continue to present a strong witness to Jesus Christ.

Pastor Paul Sunder Raj has written concerning a tragic situation concerning Pastor Denny Moses’ sister-in law. They have been praying for a miracle of healing for his sister-in-law Mrs. Saroja, who had been suffering from stomach cancer and as Pastor Denny Moses recently advised that the cancer was in the final stages he wrote: “My whole family is in tears.” Sadly, on 16 August Mrs. Saroja passed away, leaving her husband and two young daughters. Pastor Paul Sunder Raj writes…

image005“In the picture Mr. John’s (brother of Missionary Denny Moses) daughters – from right Prince and Joy Mercy – as these kids have lost their Mother.

Please uphold them in your valuable prayer. May God provide all their needs in the future. Still the kids think that Mum is in hospital because they don’t know Mother has passed way.

Mr. John is member of Advent Christian Church at Taramani and he is a taxi driver. He is also now broken after losing his wife Mrs. Saroja. Because of this incident Denny Moses and his mother are also sad.

Please kindly we need your prayer support for Mr. John and his two kids. May the Lord grant peace in his family and provide all needy things for their future studies.

Denny Moses is also now in Chennai to take care of his brother and mother. Pray for Denny Moses – may God be with him and his family to complete the further family work so that he may come back to Bihar to continue his ministry.

Once again I request you all to pray and support Mr. John and his kids for a bright future….

2014 Report

Pastor Denny Moses reports on the year’s activities in Khagaria, as follows on behalf of the team….

“To God be the Glory.
Greetings to you all in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Paul Sunder Raj – Head Missionary – is the mighty warrior of Jesus Christ who brought the good news of Jesus several years ago to the uncivilized people of Bihar state (North India). Though he didn’t know the local language (Teti) and was also not familiar with Hindi language, he began to sing the Gospel songs standing on the corner of the road in 1998. It was the beginning stage of the Advent Christian Conference of India in Bihar. But it started to grow up by faith of Jesus gradually. God enabled us to spread the gospel by giving tracts and New Testament Bibles in the beginning stage. Gradually God has enlarged our ministry in various ways, such as:-

  1. Cottage prayer.
  2. Film ministry.
  3. Personal evangelism.
  4. Children ministry.
  5. Village Ministry (Skit, puppet show, Gospel meeting)
  6. Youth ministry.
  7. Tailoring centre.
  8. Sharing the gospel to those with leprosy, widows and poor people by helping them.
  9. We conduct Annual Convention and Annual Fasting & Prayer (yearly once) for three days to grow believers in the spiritual life of Jesus.
  10. We are sending our youngsters to the Bible College to learn more about the Lord to harvest the souls and equip the disciples.
Through these all kind of ministries has God enlarged our territory to establish 12 churches in different places and we own 6 pieces of land, on which 2 churches were constructed and dedicated in the last March 2014 and two churches are being constructed.

Our aim was to share the Gospel among the uneducated people and to do the ministry in an open way, we tried to improve the social level so we planned and God opened the way in 2003 to start the St. Xavier’s High School. It started with just 185 students and now it reached 1200 students by 2014. This school is based on an English medium curriculum. Through this school we pray and teach the Bible scriptures before starting the classes. But one of problem of the school is that it does not have its own land.

Once again we thank our Almighty God one who strengthens us in our ministry in various ways by your prayers and support. Through prayer we have been able to give baptism to 28 souls for glory of God in 2014.

Prayer points:

  • We are in very great need of land for the school. We have already seen suitable land and have given some amount as an advance payment. Please do pray for the remaining money so that we can register before December 31st 2014.
  • We need land in eight places for church and funds for the construction work.
  • On October 5th we planned to give baptism to 30 people.”

Answered Prayer

Pastor Paul Sunder Raj recently reported as follows…

“Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ,  I and the team are very grateful for your support and prayer. We have conducted a Women’s special camp & Brother’s session on 14/09/2013. 150 persons attended. Word of God was shared by Dr. Joel and Mrs. Shanti Joel. It inspired their spirits to reach the Gospel to their villages and towns. Please pray to conduct such meetings regularly. Thank you.

Bro. Paghu Ram from Kasimpur was affected by witchcraft. We sent you a prayer request. God answered our prayer. He is delivered from his bondage. He is attending the church regularly. We praise God and thanks for your prayer.”

St. Xavier’s School, Khagaria

The Advent Christian Conference of India purchased St Xavier’s School in Khagaria, Bihar in April 2003, soon after Pastor Paul Sunder Raj went to the area as a missionary/church planter. At that time there were 183 children on the roll.

Since the school was purchased it has proved to be a tremendous “bridge into the community” for the Conference’s outreach with the Gospel. On many occasions in the past ten years, when Pastor Paul and his team members have been threatened by those opposed to the preaching of the Gospel by the team, the parents of the children attending the school have successfully turned away the threats by indicating that they value the school and the quality education it is bringing to their children, and by indicating to those carrying out the threats that they would have a large group of parents to deal with if they cause any further problems. Praise the Lord for those interventions and for the support the school enjoys and for the opportunities it has given for the sharing of the Gospel and Christian ethics..

Today, the school, which is one of only two English medium schools in Khagaria City, has 1010 students in classes Nursery to Standard 10. It has 25 teachers of whom 17 have come from Tamil Nadu State as missionaries, and 8 non-teaching staff. At present 25 of the students are receiving free education, 80 are paying 50% fees and the balance are paying full fees

As the roll number of the school has grown over the years the land and buildings have become very cramped and unsuitable, and have been seriously flooded on several occasions in recent years when heavy rains have occurred. Even during short rains the school grounds fill with water – if it rains continuously for just half an hour rain water enters into all the left side class rooms.  Congested class rooms due to shortage of space available in the rooms causes students to have problems in writing and carrying out other activities, moving about and in fact learning properly. There is not sufficient outside space for parking cycles, for the children’s leisure activities, or to conduct any kind of program or activity which involves all of the children or to include their parents or caregivers.

The school presently faces a crisis! Government authorities have advised the school Board that unless they relocate and meet government regulations as far as the size of land and buildings required by those regulations, the school will be compulsorily closed in April 2014! The owner of the rented premises from which the school operates has also been pressing the school board over the past year or two to relocate as he requires the land for other purposes. He has given several “deadlines” which have come and gone but the ultimatum from the Government Education authorities is likely to be carried out as they have threatened!

The minimum area of land required by the Government is 1.3 acres and the school Board has located a suitable piece of land in a suitable location. The cost of that land is 1 crore and 40 lakhs rupees – 14 million rupees, which is approximately NZ$273,000 at present exchange rates. The cost to build suitable buildings is estimated at 90 lakhs rupees – 9 million rupees, which is approximately NZ$175,000 at present exchange rates. The school Board has 30 lakhs set aside for development – 3 million rupees, which is approximately NZ$58,000.

This seems an impossible situation for the school and perhaps for the Advent Christian ministry in Khagaria as a whole. But our God is the God of the impossible – Matthew 19:26 tells us ”…but with God all things are possible.” and Luke 1:37 says “For nothing is impossible with God.”

Will you please bring this urgent situation before the Lord in prayer on a regular basis, seeking wisdom for the school Board and for the members of the team in Bihar and for an outcome that will allow the school and the outreach ministry to continue?

Prayer for those affected by flooding

Pastor Denny Moses asks for our prayers for some of their people as follows…

“Please pray for the Gogri, Prabatta and Baliya   Sanna) places. Due to heavy rain people in these places are affected by flood. Around 35 families of our Church believers are included.  We need your prayer for these people and places please.”
